Installation Problem

by rexx » Thu Oct 14, 2010 1:46 am

While installing Sitemap FX, the installation process told me to download and install an up-to-date umil.

According to the umil installation instructions, all I had to do was copy the new umil file into root/*.* - which I did.

Yet, now, install_sitemap_fx.php keeps saying:

General Error
Please download the latest UMIL (Unified MOD Install Library) from: phpBB.com/mods/umil

How do I resolve this.

Forgot to mention that the "latest umil" I downloaded was from the recommended:

Code: Select all

As shown below, the install.xml said to install the files, from umil 1.0.3 into: root *.*

Included files

* root/*.*

So, I ftp'd:

root <dir>
install.xml
license.txt
modx.prosilver.en.xsl

into /public_html/phpbb3/.

Yet, when I switched back to /public_html/phpbb3/install_sitemap_fx.php, the installation process said:

General Error
Please download the latest UMIL (Unified MOD Install Library) from: phpBB.com/mods/umil

Please help!

First of all - read this artcile viewtopic.php?f=71&t=724145. Don't upload this files - install.xml, license.txt, modx.prosilver.en.xsl.

Thanks!

Apparently, I had some success; the installation process now said:

Done! Please, delete file install_sitemap_fx.php.

Great!

So, then I deleted install_sitemap_fx.php.

But when I checked the ACP, I could not find anything indicating sitemap anything?

Shouldn't I see something indicating a control panel for sitemap fx?

Taking a que from another post, I tried running: http://www.nnnnn.com/phpbb3/sitemap.php

But I got:

XML Parsing Error: junk after document element
Location: http://www.nnnnn.com/phpbb3/sitemap.php
Line Number 1, Column 32:<b>[phpBB Debug] PHP Notice</b>: in file <b>/includes/functions_sitemap_fx.php</b> on line <b>85</b>: <b>fopen(sitemap/1.xml) [<a href='function.fopen'>function.fopen</a>]: failed to open stream: Permission denied</b><br />

Any thoughts on how to resolve this?

UPDATE:
(November 2, 2010)

Going over the install.xml, again, I see I missed setting the sitemap directory's chmod to 777.

So, I did.

Yet, now, when I run http://www.nnnnn.com/phpbb3/sitemap.php, I get:

This XML file does not appear to have any style information associated with it. The document tree is shown below.

<sitemapindex>

<sitemap>
<loc>http://www.nnnnn.com/phpbb3/sitemap/1.xml</loc>
<lastmod>2010-11-02T19:05:19+00:00</lastmod>
</sitemap>

<sitemap>
<loc>http://www.nnnnn.com/phpbb3/sitemap/8.xml</loc>
<lastmod>2010-11-02T19:05:19+00:00</lastmod>

<lastmod>2010-11-02T19:05:19+00:00</lastmod>
</sitemap>

...etc.

Any suggestions?

I followed the implied installation instructions, in install.xml:

Copy: root/adm/style/acp_sitemap.html
To: adm/style/acp_sitemap.html
Copy: root/includes/functions_sitemap_fx.php
To: includes/functions_sitemap_fx.php
Copy: root/includes/acp/acp_sitemap.php
To: includes/acp/acp_sitemap.php
Copy: root/includes/acp/info/acp_sitemap.php
To: includes/acp/info/acp_sitemap.php
Copy: root/language/en/mods/info_acp_sitemap.php
To: language/en/mods/info_acp_sitemap.php
Copy: root/sitemap/index.html
To: sitemap/index.html
Copy: root/umil/*.*
To: umil/*.*
Copy: root/install_sitemap_fx.php
To: install_sitemap_fx.php
Copy: root/sitemap.php
To: sitemap.php

Also:

Set permission chmod 777 to directory sitemap.

As a check, I looked in all the directories and physically inventoried the required files, above.

So, they all exist.

As per instructions, I removed: install_sitemap_fx.php.

Yet, my ACP still does not show a link for sitemap fx.

Further, when I go to: http://www.nnnnn.com/phpbb3/sitemap.php I get:

This XML file does not appear to have any style information associated with it. The document tree is shown below.

<sitemapindex>

<sitemap>
<loc>http://www.nnnnn.com/phpbb3/sitemap/1.xml</loc>
<lastmod>2010-11-02T19:05:19+00:00</lastmod>
</sitemap>

<sitemap>
<loc>http://www.nnnnn.com/phpbb3/sitemap/8.xml</loc>
<lastmod>2010-11-02T19:05:19+00:00</lastmod>
</sitemap>

<sitemap>
<loc>http://www.nnnnn.com/phpbb3/sitemap/9.xml</loc>
<lastmod>2010-11-02T19:05:19+00:00</lastmod>
</sitemap>

...etc.

Yet, when I examine the sitemap directory, I see that it has been filling up with .xml files and that they are of varying sizes.

Hmph!

I think it's time to throw in the towel, on this one!

My $0.02:

I feel as though I'm just spinning my wheels and wasting time.

I've been working on this mod for weeks, now, - far longer than this mod should have taken - and it's still not performing as advertised.

Further, the installation instructions are vague and there doesn't appear to be any support, for this mod.

But the screenshot shown on the "Contribution Details" page ( http://www.phpbb.com/customise/db/mod/sitemap_fx/ )shows a Sitemap Fx link listed under the ACP's "Board Configuation" heading. Yet, there is no such link shown under my ACP's "Board Configuation" heading.

Instead, it shows:

Quick access
* Manage users
* Manage groups
* Manage forums
* Moderator log
* Spiders/Robots
* PHP information
Board configuration
* Attachment settings
* Board settings
* Board features
* Avatar settings
* Private message settings
* Post settings
* Signature settings
* Feed settings
* User registration settings
* CAPTCHA module settings
Client communication
* Authentication
* E-mail settings
* Jabber settings
Server configuration
* Cookie settings
* Server settings
* Security settings
* Load settings
* Search settings
* Send statistical information

So, there must be something wrong.

How can I fix it?

Initially, I installed via AutoMod, but that did not get Sitemap FX listed under my ACP's "Board Configuration" heading.

Later, I installed via install_sitemap_fx.php, but, got the same result.

At the end of both installations, the software reported:

Information

Done! Please, delete file install_sitemap_fx.php.

So, I did.

Yet, again, sitemap fx is still not listed under my ACP's "Board Configuration" heading.

How can I resolve this?

While reviewing the install.xml file, I noticed that my sitemap directory's chmod was set, at 755.

So, I re-set the chmod to 777 and tried sitemap.php, again.

This time, I got:

This XML file does not appear to have any style information associated with it. The document tree is shown below.

But sitemap fx is still not showing up, in ACP.

Any advice?

Perhaps I should uninstall and then re-install sitemap fx?
