Restore deleted users

by Hobbykwekers » Sun Nov 24, 2013 8:48 am

I moved from Joomla Kunena to phpBB3 and some of my users appear to be deleted. Their email adress are still present in the database so they can't signup again. I tried the Restore Deleted Users tool but it gives me this error:

Damaged Posts: 17764
The following post IDs contain user information that is too damaged to restore. Please visit the support forums to receive assistance to resolve this issue.

What to do next?

That is not an error and does not prevent you from running the tool to restore the account. It is simply informing you that you have posts which will not be able to be restored. Those posts are usually missing information about the poster (username), which is needed for the post to be restored.

If you want to fix that post, do the following:
On the Admin Tools tab, click "Run SQL query" and enter this:

Code: Select all

SELECT topic_id, forum_id, poster_id, post_username, post_subject, post_text FROM phpbb_posts WHERE post_id = 17764

You will have to use that information to figure out who made the post. If you can figure out who posted it, you can run this query:

Code: Select all

UPDATE phpbb_posts SET poster_id = # WHERE post_id = 17764

Replace the # with the user's user ID.
