I used the toolkit to create a phpbb31 version of my 3.0.14 board and I used bigdump to copy the mysql database which worked really quickly. When I checked the new board (it is in test mode only) I found remnants of the daily digest mod left behind. I will remove them manually.
[edit: I just deleted the 5 records in phpbb_modules and all is good].
