In all my browsers I use zoom in the level that the width of my forum (and many other favorite sites) expand leaving no empty space left and right.
In Chrome and Opera I use zoom level 125% and in Firefox 170%. This works in my system and screen resolution, if you want to try it in your system it could be different.
I have noticed a cumbersome scrolling in Chrome, Opera and I believe in all other chromium based browsers.
In Firefox scrolling is smooth as it should be.
I believe the problem lies in the sticky navigation bar. How could I disable the floating of it just for testing?

I think you have background image extension installed. So it's not a style issue.

I suggest you to install "Zoom Page WE" extension and set in its options "Zoom In/Out By fixed step (%): 5"
After that you can play with more different zoom values.
