Replacing "no avatar gifs" - Black
Replacing "no avatar gifs"
Trying to have an automatic avatar for those who never chose one upon registration. Found an extension, but says it will replace all avatars with the new one. I thought I could just replace the 3 (gif, jpg, png) ones in the themes image folder that show a question mark with ones that I want to show. After uploading, I purged the cache, but never have they changed. They are even the same pixel size. Anyone have any luck with that method or any other method? Thanx

You need to replace the follow image:
styles/black/theme/images/no_avatar.png
with the new one. Be sure that your new image is PNG file extension too.-

I did exactly that and they never changed. Purged cache after as well. Tried 3 browsers as well. It should work if it is calling from the same folder I am replacing the files in. They are the same size as well, but do they have to be? I changed the no_avatar.gif, the hd one and the png one. Did not change the male female ones. It should work, right?

By the way, your theme is the BEST! So clean and everyone loves it. Good work.

The image is
no_avatar.PNG
, not no_avatar.GIF

Re: Replacing "no avatar gifs"
Sorry, no go. I did ALL of them to no avail. (png, gif, jpg, hd_png)
The files that I change are in the styles/black/theme/images folder and uploaded to the same place. Correct?
Does the PNG have to be all CAPS?
Once I get it working, can they be 150x150 pixels instead of 96x96?
Thanx for holding my hand here, but it should be working like you said.

styles/black/theme/images
, make sure the image is PNG
and the name is no_avatar
, ie, no_avatar.png
.The image can be any dimension as long as I've uploaded to the correct directory and the file name and file extension are the same. (ie
styles/black/theme/images/no_avatar.png

Appreciate the help, I really do, but this one has me baffled. An extension to give a default avatar would be great. I ain't smart enough to design that! There is one out there, but it changes all existing avatars and i have 3,459 members.

Re: Replacing "no avatar gifs"
I just created an account, with the same nickname as here.
Edit:
Ok, I think it's a browser cache problem, it seems to me that the result of the image is the one you want?
Empty forum caches and browsers.

You're right. I went to Firefox and they worked. Chrome they do not even after emptying cache. I went to your profile in chrome and I see no avatar. Must find better way to clear cache in Chrome. Thanx because I was going nuts knowing that replacing a png should show new png. Awesome.

Re: Replacing "no avatar gifs"
Now if the size would work. Vinny said "The image can be any dimension as long as I've uploaded to the correct directory and the file name and file extension are the same." Mine are 150x150 but they are being resized to 96x96 somewhere. I know this because I deleted the png, reloaded page and png gone. Then uploaded a 150x150, reloaded and the 96x96 shows bac up. I can deal with this or if you know what file is calling for the change, I can make that edit. Thanx for all of the help already.
