Hi Noth,
Since you updated your phpbb you need to update the style too
You can find the latest release here (phpbb just did not validate it yet):

I've noticed this problem as well. If I update the the style will I lose the edits I've done or are they safe?

Well that depends on how experienced you are
If you simply upload the new style files then YES .. you will loose all modifications you added to it!!
I advice you to use WinMerge (freely available) to compare the old with the new files ...(only comparing the changed files would be enough!)
What ever you do ..always back up the files before you do anything, incase of emergency you can go back this way (and try again)
EDIT: if you update phpbb you always need to update the language files and the template files too, otherwise you just create bugs.
