I essentially want to do a header image of 80% page width (or so) - but the search box is in the way. I dont' want to remove it for fear of breaking the page. Tips?

You can modify the location of the Search Box by editing the variables in the Stylesheet.css file found @ "\styles\pbtech\theme\stylesheet.css" just do a Ctrl+F search for the following: ".search-header {" Then edit the following variables:
However, if you wish to change the 'size' of the search box from 305px to 200px you will need to edit the image accordingly found @ "\styles\pbtech\theme\images\search-bar.gif". Also, if doing this, don't forget to edit the maximum 'allowed' length of text input by updating the ".search-header .inputbox {" width's variable. Otherwise when people type a lot of characters it'll overlap (going out of the search box image).
