Question About CSS

by Number 18 » Wed Aug 21, 2013 10:41 pm

Hi there,

Love your theme. I am trying to apply a new background. When I look in the colours.css file, everything looks as though it is specified correctly:

Code: Select all

background-image: url("{T_THEME_PATH}/images/topbg");
background-repeat: repeat;
background-color: #ffffff;
background-position: top left;

But the background image displays only once (as can be seen at www.12thmanhuddle.com/forum/) and if you inspect the element (in Chrome, Safari, Firefox, etc.), it says that it is not set to repeat. Is there somewhere this is overridden? Do you have any other thoughts or suggestions?

Thanks!

I checked it out and your image is repeating and in inspect element its showing that only. So i think its working fine.

Yeah. I got it to work by going in and editing the theme via the ACP. The interesting part is, the code I see in the ACP does not match what is actually in the colours.css file on my server.

Editing theme files via ACP are usually not permanent. You are advised to edit your theme files directly from your server.

Re: Question About CSS

I want to edit the colors for the text color inside of a forum with white background, but I also want to edit the text color when there is black background color. Here is a picture of my forum.

forum_simplicity_brown.jpg

As you can see the Simplicity style doesn't have the original colors, because I change the red color to brown when I ColorizeIt the Simplicity style before downloading it with the style name Simplicity Brown.

Now what I want to change is the brown text color to blue text color on white background plus have text colors that matches black background colors too.

What .ccs file do I need to edit and what code do I need to replace with what code?

I wish I had more knowledge about CSS in general, but I do not have such knowledge. :)

Re: Question About CSS

I now have this theme - It is great! Thank you for creating it.

However, I seem to be unable to change the red 'border', 'your first category' colour and 'board index' button colour as you can see in the above post attachment.

I searched for the colour by importing a screenshot into an image editing suite and picking the colour. I then search the colour code in simplicity.css and colour.css and changed them to what I wanted. I also put a colour filter on the 3 images I saw (bg_header.gif , bg_tabs1.gif and bg_tabs2.gif) to the colour I want (green) and have uploaded and overwritten. However, no matter what I do I can't seem to get the 3 items I mentioned above to change colour.

Any idea what I am doing wrong? I have done this many times with other themes for years. Please Help.

Many thanks in advance.
