Running 3.3.2, with the default GP language.

First problem: all the screenshots on that Instructions page are dead.

Second problem: instructions say:

Instructions to install a Language Pack wrote:Now that you have the compressed language pack on your computer, you will need to extract (unzip) it. The extracted archive should contain 2 folders:

/language
/styles

However, the ZIP contains also an /ext directory:
At the least, the Instructions need updating, or I have a rogue language pack with extras.

Next, the Instructions indicate:

Instructions to install a Language Pack wrote:On the left hand side you will have a menu split into categories. In this left hand menu under the category 'General Tasks' you will see the link 'Language Packs' [ . . . ]

There is no category 'General Tasks' in my 3.3.2 ACP. See next screenshot below.

Lastly, although I have extracted all three directories to the root of my board, as others have found I do not see the AE pack as an option in ACP: This last bit is my primary reason for this post. Any guidance will be appreciated.

I tested on my side, there is no problem. Once the archive is extracted, upload the content (ext/, language/ and styles/) to the root of your board via FTP (you can check if the "en_us/" folder is present in the "language/" directory). Go to the Administration Control Panel, then to the "Customize" tab, and click to the "Language packs" option in the left sidebar.

The American English language pack should be displayed on that page, and you need to click the "Install" button on the right.

Concerning obsolete docs, I'm not to blame, these pages are managed by the phpBB team.

hmmm - I tried again.

I am uploading the American English 4.3.0 since the english I have is 'British'

I am on phpbb 3.3.3

It was uploaded to the ext folder & extracted.

It shows as a american_ nglish folder where I have all the other working extensions.

However, in ACP, when I click on language packs, it only shows the British english which came pre installed with prosilver.

To Add:

just in case, installed the spanish also and same - extracted ... the ext and languge folders successfully show up.

acp - language packs zero... no american english nor spanish listed.

You didn't follow the installation instructions.

Once you downloaded the language pack, you need to unzip it and upload the ext/, language/ and styles/ directories to the root of your board via FTP. After this step, when you go in the languages/ directory in the root of your board on your FTP server, you should see two folders, en/ and en-us/. If you see american_english_4_3_0/, it means that you didn't uploaded ext/, language/ and styles/ directories to the root of your board.

If you still have an issue, I suggest you to ask for help on the 3.3.x support forum because the language pack itself is not the issue here. I hope I was able to help you.

Yes, thanks. You are correct, I did not follow the (poorly updated, dead screenshots filled) official documentation.

Your instructions -- and merging those three directories with the existing -- worked here for American English 4.4.0. Thank you for your help.
